SET Activities

International Space University

The original purpose of the SET was to raise funds to enable UK students to participate in the International Space University (ISU) programmes. It now executes this role by assisting the UK Space Agency in the selection of its ISU scholarship holders and acting as the UK liaison organisation for ISU.

UK Space Conference

The SET was the organiser of the highly successful annual UK Space Conference until 2010, after which a new conference of the same name was initiated by the UK Space Agency. The SET continues its involvement with the conference through the Sir Arthur Clarke Awards (see below).

Sir Arthur Clarke Awards

The Sir Arthur Clarke Awards are given annually in recognition of notable contributions in space activities. From 2005 to 2010 the awards were given annually at the last day of the UK Space Conference held at Charterhouse School. In 2011, the awards will be presented at the conference dinner of the new UKSC, to be held at the University of Warwick in July 2011.

YuriGagarin50

The SET are the initiators, facilitators and first sponsors of YuriGagarin50 (YG50), preparing for 12 April 2011, the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin, and July 2011, the 50th anniversary of Gagarin's visit to the UK.
